A NEW GAMEBOY CONSOLIZER EXPERIENCE
No emulation. All original hardware. All original feels.
GBHD Retro offers users a completely custom and unique way to experience their favorite classic games or create a workstation to produce chip tune music. The DMG Gameboy signals from original hardware are fed into our custom engineered PCB and processed for digital HDMI out with SNES or Wii classic controller input. The sleek 3D printed enclosure is the cherry on top to make the consolizer a perfect center piece for any gaming or creation setup.
SEEMLESS KIT INSTALL
New to soldering? Not a problem. Gamebox has you covered. GBHD Retro makes transforming your old *Gameboy into a consolizer a breeze by only requiring 2 points on the Gameboy be soldered together meaning that little to no soldering experience is required to assemble GBHD Retro.
*Gameboy motherboard not included in the kit.
NO CONTROL ISSUES
Say goodbye to being stuck with one controller type. GBHD supports any SNES controller or Wii classic controllers through a controller breakout PCB. This future-proofing solution can be connected and replaced at any time. Whether you want to switch controller types or if a port is worn out over time, the breakout controller PCB can be swapped at any given point in time.
EASY PRO SOUND
By default, GBHD Retro provides mono sound with no soldering required. However, if stereo sound is needed, a simple single wire soldered will provide the right channel with audio! Perfect solution for anyone needing two channel audio such as chip tunes users.
LOW POWER, HIGH FUN
No weird proprietary power connectors needed. Only a micro-USB cable is required for power. GBHD Retro also sips power, maxing out at roughly 350mA-400mA. The low power consumption allows for the consolizer to be powered via any USB port such as a computer USB.
SLEEK MODERN ENCLOSURE
We have worked and reworked the 3D printed enclosure for GBHD Retro repeatedly for form and functionality. The design brings you back to the era of DMG with its mixture of boxy and contoured edges.
COMPLETE CONTROL WITH OSD
Control your consolizer experience by accessing the on screen display to adjust to your hearts content.
ALL DIGITAL HDMI OUTPUT
Utilizing the proprietary Gamebox HDMI core, the GBHD Retro consolizer has the ability to output both 480p (720×480) and 720p (1280×720) for maximum compatibility with HDMI enabled televisions and monitors. Resolutions are configurable via options in the OSD menu.
SCALE IT UP
With the additional screen real estate, GBHD scales the tiny 160×144 original Gameboy resolution! By default, the processed image is linearly upscaled 3x in 480p and 5x in 720p with customizable border colors. Don’t want borders around the image? Not a problem! The image can be stretched to full screen with an overscan option to make it work with the many HDMI enabled televisions and monitors commercially available.
SCANNING FOR SCANLINES
Give your consolizer experience a retro CRT feel with 4 adjustable scanline modes. Scanlines range in size, and progressively get wider to simulate the feeling of sitting in front an old tube television.
CUSTOM COLOR PALETTES
GBHD Retro takes customization even further by offering 16 custom color palettes. Each palette uniquely outlines characteristics from games to provide new depth to sprites and backgrounds.
